Conscious, Ecstatic Dance

Though the event starts at 7:30 and ends at 10:00 you can come for all or only part of that time. We meet the 3rd Friday of every month! Donation $10-$20.

Barefoot Boogie

Are you psyched to dance? So are we. Come join us! The Boogie is a freestyle dance which happens twice a month in New York City. We offer a relaxed, smoke- and alcohol-free environment where folks can freely express themselves in movement.

If you’ve enjoyed any kind of conscious dance, ecstatic dance, 5 Rhythms, JourneyDance, contact improvisation, or any other kind of freeform movement, you’ll enjoy the Boogie.

People of all ages, families and kids are welcome. (Children must be supervised at all times.) Come alone or bring your friends. You’ll find folks at the dance moving solo, with partners, and/or in groups. Dress as you wish, but please leave your street shoes at the door before hitting the dance floor. We also keep chat to a minumum on the dance floor but welcome verbal connection in the non-dance spaces! The Barefoot Boogie is a not-for-profit, cooperative and volunteer-run venture.

The Frolic

WHAT IS A FROLIC? The Frolic is an all-ages dance party for dance lovers: This is not product, this is you finding a place to be you. A not-for-profit all-volunteer dance event in the Mid-Hudson Valley (see schedule of events). Frolic dances are alcohol free, smoke free, and drug free which keeps the focus on dancing. People of all kinds attend, ranging from people who are serious about dance and want to expand their experience and learn from other dancers, to people who just want to get down in a fun, open atmosphere. No dance skills or partners are required! Just bring your dancing feet, socks or indoor-only soft-soled shoes*, and be prepared to boogie down.

Nectar

Nectar is a non-verbal dance inspired by conscious & ecstatic dance. It is a space to enjoy & explore embodiment, physical expression, & the body’s wisdom. After an opening unguided warm-up period, a playlist of music progresses through a wave—beginning spacious & mellow, gaining intensity, & arriving back into stillness. Participants are welcome to move, dance, & be still as their bodies desire. Nectar opens & closes with intentional circles. Opening circles feature inspirational comments on a theme by the Facilitator-DJ, & closing circles offer participants a chance to share about their experiences in the dance.

I-Opener Dance Community

I-Opener is a Community Ecstatic Dance that start with a yoga or guided movement warmup, sometimes with live music, then flow into DJ’d beats by DJ Luminus often with drumming interludes, and finish with a closing circle grounding and connection. Imagine your body is your Temple. How would you dance your prayers?
Let’s gather in community reclaiming our bodies and moving our energy!
Through movement and to live music, we will express ourselves and enliven our cells.

We will circle and begin with a warm up lead by various facilitators to get us centered in our bodies.
Inspired musical offerings bring us into our bodies to express via movement and dance.
You are welcome to dance solo, with a partner, and in groups.
A short closing will bless our experience.
We are all connected…So let’s DANCE!
